UALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad (C), accompanied by his wife Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali (R), arrives at parliament house in Kuala Lumpur 14 February 2000 as parliament began its first full session since last November's election. Malaysia's government launched an unveiled attack on its Islamic political opponents, with the king, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, accusing 'certain parties' of resorting to actions against Islamic teachings--causing splits among Muslims and disharmony in the country.
