Amid a slowdown in the US economy, Mahathir is expected to unveil an economic package worth several billion ringgit (dollars) to boost the economy and counter the US downturn. The measures is said to help various sectors, particularly manufacturing, to weather ill-effects from a slide in the world's largest economy.
