UNPERTURBED by Karpal Singh's threats to sue him, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has reiterated his opinion that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang is a racist.
Dr Mahathir said along with Lim, DAP and Pas were also racist parties.
The outspoken former premier said while DAP was a Chinese racist party, Pas was a Malay racist party because they only fielded candidates in areas with a Chinese and Malay majority respectively.
On the other hand, MCA and Umno contested in every area, irregardless of whether they had Chinese or Malay majorities, he said when speaking at a ceramah at Kampung Padang Jual, at the invitation of Barisan Nasional candidate for the Johol state seat, Abu Samah Mahat.
"I have received a letter from DAP chairman Karpal Singh asking me to withdraw my statement that Lim is a racist or face a suit, but I am not bothered.
"I now call Lim a racist again and DAP a racial and extremist party. I am not worried about the consequences."
Dr Mahathir said Karpal's threat was merely to stop him from calling Lim a racist as they had learnt the tactic from PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said Anwar had stopped him from alleging that Anwar was involved in sodomy by slapping a RM100 million suit.
"This is like censorship. They are trying to stop me from expressing my views despite all the talk about Pakatan wanting to promote freedom of speech and press freedom.
"I recently wrote in the NST (New Straits Times) calling Lim a racist and Karpal can threaten all he wants, but I will not stop. Recently, Karpal had even said that they will arrest me once they form the government."
Dr Mahathir said Pakatan was already going around threatening everyone even before they formed the government. "If they form the government, that is what we can expect from them."
Condemning Pas spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat for saying that those who don't join Pas are kafir (infidels), Dr Mahathir questioned if the Kelantan menteri besar was saying that 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide, including three million Umno members, who are not Pas members, were all kafir.
Dr Mahathir told the crowd not to look at individual candidates when they voted but the party they represented as it was the party which formed the government and not candidates on their own.
He also said voters should reject those who have retired from top government posts and were contesting in the 13th General Election just to seek revenge.
"These people, including generals, are exploiting political parties for their own self interest."
