The two leaders discussed a range of issues concerning Malaysia and China, including the need for greater bilateral trade among both countries.
Dr Mahathir later told reporters that China’s world view was similar to Malaysia’s, noting that Xi “believes in world peaceful relations just like we do.”
“We believe that all differences should be settled through peaceful means and dialogue,” he said when asked if issues concerning Southeast Asean countries had been discussed.
He added that a proposal to establish an association of Chinese and Malaysian businessman had been raised and Xi was supportive of the idea.
